I hate to burst your bubble, but going from distro to distro just for a system that supports your linkx out-of-box is a little insane.

To the contrary, neither alsamixer nor gnome-mixer offer to change anything for “center” “rear” “iec” or similar. The version 22 does not let me use the microphone. If anybody could hint me, what output to provide to make this bug traceable?

I am informed about the problems it will incur, I had ekiga hang-up on me, but it was no useless as it is without a working mic So looking forward to this. However, I have a new board now in my desktop that sooner or later shall replace the said htpc.
Skype does play sound with some settings, but never records from mic however there is a setting in alsamixer that makes it possible to use the headset microphone as pa in conjunction with speakers. Tue Mar 23 I am on a newer kernel than the version.

If that’s not working you might want to try and disable all other audio devices onboard or graphic cards, since hdmi now includes sound, most graphic cards are now also registered as audio devices.
