I am not surprised you have been through 3 of these boards Besides the cosmetic issue, is there a real issue to fix? With the ram you have, you have some head room to play around with the fsb.
After the 42nd week of all the processors came multiplier locked from the factory. I can’t get it to move from 1. It seems unlikely, but it’s possible. It dp not always like this, and I am not sure what led it to be tweaked down, and also to be represented as a totally different processor. Either that or my pc doesn’t post and I have to reset cmos by changing the jumpers back and forth.

It turns out the jumper was indeed in the wrong position. Please set that jumper to the MHz. This pertains to “desktop” XPs.
Flaming or offending other users Illegal activities: I don’t think it’s the CMOS battery because when I change the settings and it does post, the changes still remain but pc still at 1.
So, it was not only a cosmetic issue, since my computer was considerably slower now lessand I did not find any viruses or malware present after scan. Should I do something to change this and will it have any effect?
